Increasing Collaboration, Indonesia-Finland Encourage Clean Energy Innovation Towards Net Zero Emissions
Indonesia and Finland held the Indonesia-Finland Smart Energy Working Group Day on Tuesday (30/1) in the Sarulla Room, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources. The event was attended by the Minister of Economic Cooperation of Finland, Mr. Wille-Werner Rydman, Ambassador of Finland to Indonesia Mr. Pekka Kaihilahti, CEO of Business Finland, Mrs. Nina Kopola, and also several other Finnish delegates.
During the event, Minister Arifin Tasrif expressed appreciation to Finland for consistently strengthening bilateral relations with Indonesia over time. He highlighted Finland’s commitment to collaboration and its valuable contributions in fostering mutual development, particularly in sustainable energy initiatives. “I hope we can expand this relationship into a broader collaboration, especially in the energy sector,” said Arifin.
Arifin emphasized Finland’s expertise in clean energy and energy efficiency as key factors supporting Indonesia’s Net Zero Emission (NZE) ambitions. He highlighted that Finland’s advanced technology could significantly contribute to achieving shared goals of promoting global climate mitigation and sustainability.
“We realize that Finland is a rich country, a source of knowledge and technology, while Indonesia is rich in population and natural resources. This kind of combination can strengthen relations between Indonesia and Finland,” added Arifin.
This Working Group activity was divided into 2-panel discussion sessions, where the first-panel session carried a theme related to Energy Transition and Carbon Neutral and presented representatives of several energy companies from Finland such as Wartsilla, Virta Global, and Kempower as panelists.
Meanwhile, the second-panel session carries a theme related to Green Building and presents representatives of Finnish companies such as Peikko, Molok, Helvar, and Nokia who will discuss buildings, facilities, and infrastructure, as well as waste management. (ARN)
